I am new to search engines but thought I had it figured out when my site showed up in the ranks quite nicely I thought but now it is gone. Now the only time I can access a page through any search engine is to type in my domain name exactly as it appears when I type it in the address bar.
A week ago I could type in keywords and such and find my site listed.
If I have been penalized for something is there a way know what the reason would be and how to fix it. I purchased a template to build my site and even though I have my own domain name they say I don't have access to the server logs.
Is there a way around this? I am concerned that maybe they are able to stop search engines from accessing my site with the robot.txt file I have been reading about. Also, I read that someone can request that my site be removed for copyright infringment. I purchased a DBA for my chosen domain name and also purchased the related domain name. There is another site out there with my name who did not purchase the domain name but I was under the impression that I have right to use the name I purchased.
Also, I read one of those books on how to increase your ratings with the search engines but since then have removed those offensive techniques. Had I fould this forum before the book, I sure I would not have made such dumb mistakes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
One last thing regarding the fresh tags. What are they and how can I access them?
With regard to a penalty i would check out the Google Knowledge base and do a site search on Penalties. More often than not you have not been penalised.
You will have a better idea once you have read throught some of the threads on the matter.
Some of the problems you may be encountering could depend on the age of your site.
