I just saw it wasn't working and posted in the Supporters Forum. I'll be sorry to lose this feature if it's really gone.

Same here, also with www2, and local googles.

Now where's that file where I saved those 500 -link serps? ;)

It didn't for me about an hour ago (like Biggles, in NZ), but now it's working fine. Perhaps just a temporary glitch.

I can't get it going in UK :(

Your search - -link:www.mydomain.com - did not match any documents.

Well, it was good while it lasted.

coconutz, I guess you're right. You could keep following -link: searches recursively to find where people were really getting most of their PageRank from. That process just got a lot harder.

Interesting, I did post something a while back,
about if I was google I'd be reading forums Like This.
I could never understand why someone from google would be here,
unless to gather information about SEO activities.
Everyone has a hidden agenda if they work for someone.
If you worked for google would you? I think not, unless it was part of your job. Unless people are typing in the toolbar -link,
and it's been noted, the toolbar is just spyware right?

I don't think they've removed it - it seems too useful.

They've probably masked it with something else, so SEOs don't use it, only they do.

OK, I'll bite: What do you mean by "be here"? It's a public forum so there's probably tons of lurkers from all the SE's. And then there's someONE from Google who's an active member. Are you accusing him?

can somebody tell me what -link actually was good for? I tried a site search but -link keeps on getting ignored in the search results. It seemed to me to simply reverse the list of backlinks to the website.

It is not working for me either. Even with big sites. And not on www2 or www3.

it ordered backlinks with highest PR first. It was an excellent tool that was killed because it was a hidden feature that a WW member stumbled upon.

What makes WW great is that knowledgeable webmasters can share info. But the SE's decided to participate and I always thought part of that for them was because some knowledgeable people are their "enemy" and they want to know what's being used so they can do combat.

I for one would welcome it being gone. I'm in a niche industry, and I have to be creative and work very hard to come up with clean, pertinent, AND strong backlinks; it's just a cheat sheet that my competitors use to pay some schmuck $8 an hour to follow my hard-earned trail. It's SPAM Google! :)

link:domain still works, it's -link:domain that has been disabled.

link:domain uses some unknown (presumably randomised) ordering. -link:domain was PageRank order, and very useful too.
