Does cloaking allow the website owner to hide parts of the source code from the user?

Surely this would be ethical in order to hide trade secrets?

you can cloak a website url which only hides the url.

There are ways to cloak a page and show a different page to the spiders, but these tactics are asking to get banned.

Cloaking is perfectly normal and will not get you banned. Abusing it will. Brett cloaks and he is not banned. Cloaking is when a page can show things differently depending on some criteria like what country you are from and so on. You can not use cloaking to hide source code. If you cloak something nobody will see it. That would be the same thing as just not putting it on your site. You could cloak the code from a particuler person if you know their IP. There is no way to hide html. You can hide programs by using a server side language. Even if you want to abuse it there are ways to hide what you are doing from the people you want to hide it from.
