How to cloak this?

hi everybody!

i'm new to cloaking and i have a simple question:

i have 2 domains:

www.domain_1.com
www.domain_2.com

i would need a .htaccess-file that does the following:

when the user enters "http://www.domain_2.com" in the browser, in the background the browser should jump to the following directory at the OTHER Domain "http://www.domain_1.com/nintendo/".

it's important that all this should happen in the background so that the user always sees "http://www.domain_2.com" in the browser-bar and also on the next pages, the user must NEVER see [domain_1.com!...]

In other words: the directory "http://www.domain_1.com/nintendo" should be the ROOT or START-folder for the domain "http://www.domain_2.com"

Do you think this is possible? Maybe someone could post me an .htaccess entry, that could do this...

Thank you very much!

yours,
Phil

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com], marsvolta.

This is not really a .htaccess or cloaking job: the best way is to get your hosting provider to map the second domain to the appropriate location as a virtual host. Usually they ask for a small fee, but it will allow you to share the space and limits, and it's a lot cheaper than paying for a second hosting account.

Hi encyclo!

Thank you for your help - you are right - I know that! BUT: I've already asked my provider to do this, but he WILL NOT do it. I don't know why but he does not offer this!

I hope I can also do it with .htaccess.

P.S.: I know the solution with frames, but I don't like to use frames :)

If your host does not offer this, are you sure they will let you create and use an .htaccess file? Have they suggested this?

Yes - I've already used an .htaccess file on the mentioned Provider. It is allowed...

I hope somebody can help me. THX!
