Are they cloaking?

Great positioning, but I'm not sure how...

We were recently contacted by a site that will list us (on a CPC basis) in the page they have dedicated to our site's niche. They are getting great results for all of the pages in other niche, but I just can't figure out how. They have way less PR than my site which is an 8. We have more backlinks than they do, but they still do better in some fields than we do, and we have optimized like crazy in an attempt to grab positioning.

So, my question is this... if they are cloaking, how do I find out? Is there a sure fire way to test for this?

Thanks.

I'd look to see if the page has anything in the Google cache. If not, that's an indicator that they might be cloaking.

Cloaking does not help you rank better. What they are hiding may help you rank better. Change your user agent to match the googlebot. Also look at the G cache if it matches they are not cloaking. There are some great on page/on site stuff you can do nowdays that help you rank a lot better.

Thanks for the pointers. I am not very versed in the whole cloaking world. How do I change my user agent to Googlebot?

You can use a browser like Firefox and follow these instructions: http: //johnbokma.com/mexit/2004/04/24/changinguseragent.html
