i have purchased a domain and have it held on a site that redirects it to my free hosted site it is cloaked so when the site comes up you see the domain name, it also allows you to add a meta tags for search purposes, i am wondering if google will use these tags or the ones written in my default page and if google will spider my whole site this way.
Am i better of submitting the url of the hosted location
eg. mysite.hostserver.com even though this will defeat the purpose of aquiring the URL in the first place.

it's not actually cloaked i should of read more about what cloaking was before i posted this message. I should used the term stealth redirection instead of cloaked, this belongs in the google section. sorry!

rik_e,

Use the WebmasterWorld Server Headers checker [webmasterworld.com] to see what is returned when you access your domain name. If it returns your free hosted page's header, then don't worry about it. If it returns a 302 redirect to your hosted URL or a 200-OK from the redirecting site (not your hosted site), then you may want to take action to prevent problems in Google and other search engines.

Once you start worrying about search engine spiderability and rankings, it's good to consider getting a "real" hosting account to host the domain; The free hosts are restrictive at best, and will frame your site, throw pop-up ads at your users, and cause search engine listing problems at worst.

HTH,
Jim

My ISP in ireland supplies free space and doesn't frame my clients sites, pop up ads or any of those things. How can I persuade my clients to use my hosting pakage instead. I can see no reasons?
