How do you make a page auto prompt "make me your homepage"

I have to ask but shudder to say it - is there a copy and paste HTML jobbie (java) to do this function so that users will come in and see my site and be prompted to make it there homepage in a pop up?

Here [developer.irt.org] is a good snippet with browser sniffing.

It uses a text link to popup the set homepage dialog. I would recommend this method over calling the dialog yourself. (As stated at the bottom of the code, it is annoying to users.) You can make a simple popup and put this link on it.

You can also use cookies to only popup the windox every X days, or popup after X number of views of the page.
