Hi

When i type any URL in IE like "www.yahoo.com" the IE tries to put another www and .net or .org on the URL?! like that "www.www.yahoo.com.net" if fails it tries "www.www.yahoo.com.org" until all failes and displayes "Page Cann't be Displayed"

But if i write the URL in the address bar of the windows explorer "My Computer for example" it works well!

i tried to reinstall IE , reinstall SP2 ,and disable any firewall or IE plugin but still have the same problem

thanks in advance :)

fine , after many trials the IE stoped adding any extra things to the URL but still gives me "Paged Can't be displayed" (IE doesn't load or any thing , it appears as soon as i press the Go button as if there is no internet connection?!)

Mozilla and Opera are working very well :S

Hello semsem, and welcome to the forums. Since you got rid of the extra "www" problem, you are left with the same phenomenon that is currently being discussed in this thread:

[webmasterworld.com...]

Some of the suggestions there should help.

thanks tedster, i tried all the ways proposed except the "sfc" , r u sure that it will not harm any installed application that changed one of the system files (but didn't corrupt it)?
i don't want to reinstall all my programs again :(

Well, with software you are never 100% sure of anything ;)

But the "System File Checker" is a utility created BY Microsoft to repair common things than can go wrong in the system, and I've never heard of a problem from it - it's just not that kind of thing.
