I am wriring a website in html and want to put russian text in it. However, when i type russian characters in html editor like (Text Pad or Dreamweaver) the character don't come out right. They do come out right , however, when i view my website. This part is right because of the tag that i have at the beginning of the code.
Is there any way to type it in html editor and actually see what you typing. I can type it in Microsoft Word fine, but when i paste it to html editor it gives me this "?".
Please help,
Thanks
Ruslan

I've had some similar struggles, and what I've learned is that most HTML editing software can handle any character-set you need, but you often need to configure the program to do this.

I don't use Macromedia's Dreamweaver, but I do use Macromedia's Homesite 5.5, which has extensive language functionality for the editor, configured under Options>Settings>Editor. Since Macromedia also makes Dreamweaver, I'm sure there is a similar configuration available. You may find some help in our WYSIWYG Editors Forum [webmasterworld.com] where a lot of Dreaweaver conversations take place.

Also, surprisingly, the Netscape Composer that comes with Netscape 7 Communicator does a decent job with many character sets. It does however, play it a bit loose withthe html itself.
