As many of you know, SP2 for Windows XP "breaks" the functionality of running multiple versions of Internet Explorer.

There are two ways of getting IE to work properly:

Lite version
The easiest way to get IE on your computer is to download the applicable zip file from [skyzyx.com...] and simply unzip, and run. However, the files provided for download are not full versions of Internet Explorer. They are lite versions, which means that certain features may or may not be available.

Full version
To get a full version of IE on your computer you need to follow the instructions provided in this thread [webmasterworld.com]. However, in addition to those instructions, as a last step you also need to delete the file

WININET.DLL
.

I'm currently wrestling with the possibility of getting Conditional Comments working in these versions of IE. Updates on that will follow at a later date.

I had followed the instructions for the Full version in your older thread. However, I have found that simply renaming or removing the
WININET.DLL
file is not working for either IE 5.01 or IE 5.5 versions which were operable on my WinXP machine prior to adding SP2.

I don't see that following the CAB extraction steps again would help as there's no installation involved in the process. Technically removing

WININET.DLL
should make it work, right? Unfortunately it hasn't worked for me. Has this worked for other people?
