Problems in Netscape 6

unwanted gaps between graphics

I can't figure out why I have small gaps following the two 'stretchbars' .. but only in Compuserv & Netscape 6 (not in IE, Mozilla, or Netscape 4.7). I'm sure it has to do with the tables, but my attempts to fix it have failed.

<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" background="picts/background-main.gif" text="#000000" link="#339966" vlink="#663399" alink="#666666" leftmargin="0" rightmargin="0" topmargin="0" bottommargin="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0">

<!-- PAGE TABLE-->
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%" height="100%"><tr>
<td align="left" valign="top"> <img src="picts/stretchbar.jpg" width="100%" height="20" alt="" /><br />

<!-- PICTURE TABLE -->
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%">
<tr>
<td background="picts/pbhome.jpg" border="0" width="720" height="80"><br />
</td></tr></table>
<!-- PICTURE TABLE -->

<img src="picts/stretchbar.jpg" width="100%" height="20" alt="" /><br />

Thanks for any pointers

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com], jayell.

Are the comment blocks in your actual markup, and does anything change if you remove them, along with any other white space? Also, do you have a particular need to support Netscape 6? That browser is virtually absent from the standard web landscape, replaced by later versions of Mozilla, Firefox and Netscape 7. NN6 has a bunch of wierd bugs which are difficult to avoid, so if you don't need to support that browser, so much the better.

Welcome, indeed, jayell!
Compuserv & Netscape 6 (not in IE, Mozilla, or Netscape 4.7)

Are you sure this is 2004/5?! I love it! :)

I'm throwing in with encyclo on this one ... bugs aplenty in NN6 ... so many that it didn't last long.

Allright .. allright .. you've beat me down :-) It's just that this site is for a computer club that has a lot of older folks, and I hate leaving people behind just because they have older machines or don't have the ability to load the latest stuff.

Thanks for your input .. I think I'll move past this issue.
