I have G5 Mac with DSL and newest Panther OS.

My browsers are IE, MOZILLA and SAFARI.

I seem to like Safari the best and want to use it consistently.

My problem:

It seems when I come across a video clip, only with IE can I just drag the underlined link to my desktop and it downloads and then I can open it (for instance) WMV, since I have a program to do that.

With Safari, if I drag it, it is not the download. On SAFARI I can only view the video if I double click it on the web page...it will open WMV and start playing, but I can't figure out how to download it onto my hard drive.

Thanks,
John

Like most Apple apps, Safari uses key-modifers for mouse actions.
This should get you started:

* Point at the link, look what it says in the status bar (bottom of your screen).
* Now hold down [ctrl] and repeat the action.
* Do the same with [alt], [apple], [alt]+[apple].

and try single-clicking before you double-click - it's not usually necessary.

For your specific problem, try holding down [alt] while you drag the link across.

Enjoy ;)

While we're at it, hit Command-Option-A to see the activity window and Command-Option-L to view the downloads window.

Double-click anything in Activity to load it in a browser window. Drag the lil' favicon from the address bar to the Downloads window to download it. ;)
