The 'another' website has a member counter on its pages which i want to include on my page, how do i do this, can anyone offer me any scripts to help me out!

Are you wanting to duplicate the other counter? You'd have to get permission from the "other guy" to do so, and if he wanted that to happen, he'd probably give you a snippet of html including an img tag to reproduce his counter. Not sure why you'd want to use his numbers though.

To get a counter of your own set up, you should first check with your host: quite frequently hosts will have easily-installed counters for use by site owners. If that's not available, you can do a google search for "free counter scripts" and probably find a thousand or so.... some will be easy to set up, others more difficult. Some will be remotely hosted, some will require you to have access to cgi-bin on your site.

And welcome to Webmaster World!

thanks for the reply, im sorry if i didnt make myself too clear, its not a 'visitor' counter that i am looking to replicate, it is a member counter that updates everytime a new member joins!

example of counter text on his site: we now have 4907 members in 425 countries!

what i need to do is have the same counter on my site that updates itself with the original on his site when that is updated! I do have his permission to do this but getting hold of the guy is a nightmare as he is extemely busy, but im sure he will send me the code in time!

If this still isnt clear i will post both site urls to try andf explain further!

Cheers

Aha. I see. Well, no, don't post URLs as that's against the TOS....

I think.... hmmm.... well, if the other guy would be okay with you doing this, you could view source on his page with the counter, and see if the code is there for it. If it is, you could try to copy n paste the code into your page - but if it's server-side operated for HIM on HIS server, it might not work for YOU on YOUR server (unless they are one and the same - in which case you should maybe as I said before just contact your server host).

IF this works for you, I think you should be VERY sure you email him (busy as he may be) to let him know you have done this.

If it doesn't work, I don't know what else you could do.
