Looking for a platform and browser independent solution.

I need a bookmark management solution. It should work with IE as well as with Firefox; a web-based tool would be okay, as it would allow to access my bookmarks while out of office.

Do you have any recommendations or ideas for a simple solution, e.g. in Perl or PHP?

Try Backflip?
I tried it, got annoyed with it and stopped using it.

Not sure what you really need to do here....

But really, all you need to do to move your bookmarks from one browser to another, from one folder to somewhere else - whatever - is go to the "favorites" folder (or whatever your browser of choice calls it), copy all of the files within it, and paste them where you want them....

There's probably some network-deployment solution out there. I haven't needed to use anything like that for myself (TEENSY home network), or at work either (one IT guy, me, and max 70 machines.... I just go around and DO it - access my machine on the network, input the password, nav to the fav folder, select all, CTRL-C copy, nav to the current machine fav folder, select all, CTRL-V paste....)

You might need to use a remote desktop situation to access what's on the office machine - but you could just simply update your offsite solution as necessary....

I think I found what I was looking for:
[sitebar.sourceforge.net...]

This looks very promising, installation was simple (less than 10 minutes), I hope I get used to it.
