Hi,

I have a project where the client wants to show the video from their live in-store security camera on a page at their website. I have absolutely no idea how to do this. Can anyone point me towards some literature, examples, code etc?
I'm developing this site using asp.

Thanks

Least expensive solution is to connect a web cam to a computer that uploads images to a web server a set intervals. Use wireless internet camera server where the wireless camera transmits via 802.11b/g to the web server. This will cost around $200.00 USD. You can also go full-scale digital video recording/security system, but onces I've research start at $1,000 USD.

There's no coding involved. The remote access client would typically need to run on a Windows machine. Other systems let you log in directly into the web server where you only need a web browser.

Yeah, don't buy cameras that have video and audio recording capabilities. These type of cameras are illegal in many states and questionable in many others.

****? We're not talking about someone with a cam in a shower here. We're talking about a security camera. Sheesh.

Nobody was talking about that. It is illegal to put up a camera like that in some states.

Even where it's legal he can have the ass sued off of him for doing it by whomsoever might be on camera .

We don't want to get into a shooting match about legal points here. It's enough to say that in many jurisdictions there are laws about automated surveillance, whether audio or video or both. It would be important to know how both criminal and civil law applies if surveillance is made available to the general public on a website.

So consult a lawyer about those issues.

Good idea, I find out the legalities of this before I begin work on it. When the client finds that there may be any problems at all he may decide to ditch the idea.
