I am responsible for design of a slideshow utility(not code writing)I am interested in getting thoughts on what constitutes the ideal slide show especially in reference to :
1 size of window ( in pixels)
2 size of images ( in pixels)
3 number of images per show for reasonable user experience.
Answers to these questions will help drive design and manage client expectations.
Any thoughts would be apppreciated!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, GreatLutini!

The first point I'll make is one of usability, if you're creating a slideshow make sure you tell your users how many images there are in the slideshow and how far through they are (eg: Image 12 of 30).

As for the size of the window, that really depends on the quality of the image and how important the image is to the purpose of the site.
