Problems with liquid design

I like the concept of creating liquid design websites, but I am having a problem. I have created a website with liquid design and the only issue I am having is the length of the lines of text. On a 1280*1024 resolution the website expands and there are more text on each line. As a result, the lines of text are very long. This makes it a little hard to read.

I wanted to get some advice on this issue. Will long lines of text cause any usability issues?

There is the max-width property in CSS that works in most modern browsers and can be emulated in IE.
