Does it really exist?

I keep seeing Netscape 5 as a browser in my reports. As I understand it, Netscape only went up to 4.7 and then went to 6. Can anyone shed any light on this?

No, Netscape 5 doesn't really exist - it is just your stats program which isn't identifying the browsers correctly. If the string starts "Mozilla/5.0" and doesn't have "MSIE" in it, some programs call it Netscape 5. In reality, it could be one of the "Gecko" browsers (Netscape 6 and 7, Mozilla, Firefox, etc.), or Safari (OSX) or Konqueror (KDE desktop), all of which have strings which start "Mozilla/5.0".

IIRC the first can be identified by searching for the string "Gecko", and the latter two the string "Safari" or "KHTML".
