IE6 image loading lag

...just on my most recent site

I recently created a new site and it take a long time (30 seconds or more) to load a few images that are smalled that 1K in size. This only happens in IE6. The rest of the images load fast, the ones that have the problem are part of a top nav bar that has JS rollovers (yeah, yeah I know). The site is XHTML and CSS valid. All JS is in an external file.

I can't for the life of me figure out why these images will not load quickly like other sites I have made. The site works fine in Mozilla, Opera, etc... but in IE it just hangs for a little bit.

Thanks for any suggestions.

P.S. - I have run Spybot, checked my Hosts file etc... and everything is fine.

I had a lot of troubles with background gif images smaller than 10x10px that was repeated in larger areas. The page could easily render for 10-15 seconds. Also in IE only.

maybe...?

Hmmm, I dont have any background images or any repeating images. I found a thread about that searching on Google. The images that are having trouble are about 100 X 19 pixels.

Have you tried opening the images in photoshop and resaving them? It could be a error in the actual image file. Is the image a part of the JS rollover function?

Please sticky me your url and Ill have a look. maybe I can help.

OK, so it has been checked and it looks like this issue is only on my computer. It much be some somftware that I have installed, any ideas? I have run spybot and ad-aware and cleared all tracking cookies, etc. I have no Spyware.

Is this particular site hosted somewhere different from your other sites? I find that can make a huge change.... I moved sites from a local "nice guy but outrageously expensive" host to a "real" host in Canada - and page load times dropped DRAMATICALLY (seriously - went from 20-30 secs with only a background partial graphic and a couple of small pics, to 5 secs max.... and that's on DIAL-UP!)
