Form fields in HTML emails

I am trying to place a form in an email and post the data to a webpage for processing. It's not quite working. I'm assuming that the email client, while equiped to render HTML, is not equiped to pass form data.

Has anyone out there solved this problem?

Thanks,

Dan Thompson

Dan, About all I can do for sure here is Welcome you to Webmaster World. I have never heard of what you are trying to do. Could you post a little more detail of what you have so far?

Hi Dan,

I think that you are right in saying that email clients are not equipped to pass from data. What you could do is link from the email to the form , so the user will have the form opened in a web browser... but I guess you already thought of that one :)

Maybe someone is better informed, but I did not find any evidence that it works in most email clients. I even tried it here with Eudora, I cannot even use GET method in an emailed form.

hi Dan,

Welcome to Webmaster World - and what are you planning to do with receipients who receive emails as text only (as I do)?

You'd be better off sending a link to a web page, so that everyone will be able to join in.
