Site not validating - but will it hurt my site?
It entirely depends on the error. Missing the closing angle bracket (>) on the <html> element can be fatal as far as SEs goes. Misspelling
hr probably won't hurt. But, in general, it's always good to strive for validation. There is really no reason for anyone to want to have a page that does not validate. There are no benefits from having a page filled with errors, while there are potential (sometimes unknown) benefits of having a page that does validate.
