[news.bbc.co.uk...]

This article tells how VisitScotland's web site misses out on a potential audience of 19 million people because it failed to work correctly in the AOL browser.

What are other major sites that fail to work in all browsers (Opera, Mozilla, IE 5, AOL etc)?

this is due to AOL users having their IP rotated as a security feature.

VisitScotland.com's web site uses the IP as a session variable so if a user's IP changes then the session is dropped making it virtually impossible to reserve online.

I see, so it isnt really a browser issue, thanks for clarifying...

But my question still stands, are there any other big sites that do not work properly in all browsers?

Well, if you head over to Opera's "Open the Web" forums, you can get a nice little list. [my.opera.com...]

msn.com doesn't work properly in Opera / NetScape.

the 'about' link in the search results page doesnt do what it is supposed to and various other little things here and there are not quite right.

I don't know about the rest of msn but the menu for slate doesn't work in Mozilla.

I always assumed the fact that MSN didnt work in other browsers was a tactic though, rather than bad/lazy design...

macromedia's site won't let me see the extentions bit.

I get a page telling me Opera doesn't support their features? and links to Mozilla, AOL, MS, etc.

Good way to treat customers... I don't think!

...and setting Opera to identify as MSIE don't get round it either!

One of the major dating sites has issues in Opera--I'm going to write a style sheet to use just with them.
