Every time I try to scroll on any site, using my mouse weheel, arrow keys, pg-up, pg-down; Ithe scrolling is extremely slow. the entire page seems to disappear from the screen and then reappear at the new position. I get the same problem when using Internet Explorer 6 and Mozilla Firebird 0.7.

Please can someone help me!

Have you done a restart?

is the page very long? if so it only seems slow. And if you drag the slider manually, your comp isn't fast enough to display the magnitude of data whizzing through the browser window.

Check your mouse settings... Intellipoint or similar, depending on what brand of mouse you're using. There are settings to slow down or speed up the scroll rate of the mouse wheel, as well as the tracking of mouse movement in general. Check that and get back to us. Sounds like it's the mouse to me, though.

good luck!

How would that affect the arrow/etc keys?

Good point! I missed that detail on my initial reading and response.

My only thought is maybe one or more applications are running in the background that are seriously draining the system's resources. That would account for the sluggishness across all browsers and input methods used.

As an afterthought: I have had similar problems with one of my laptops that has low RAM, especially when other programs are open eating it up, but it's more "stuttering" than slow. I also have it's cache set up for just 10mb as it has a low memory hard drive as well. And clearing that can get it moving.
