I know this is a bit off the topic, but I wondered if I could lend from the abundance of geniuses that frequent WebmasterWorld. I sometimes download something from a link that must generate the DL or something, as I can't download it into a download manager. Even if I shift click and stop the page when it reveals the address, and then copy the location to the download manager, the DL will still never start as they must have done something to stop leeching. The only way to get it going is to click the link and the "save file as" box spawns. Problem is: I'm on a dial-up and if the line drops out I run the risk of starting from scratch. If I leave everything alone and re-connect, and then click again, the process repeats and the download will resume where it left off (so it is a resumable server), however, if the link fails once and I have to go back and re-click, I lose it all and it starts from the beginning. Is there a way I can catch what's already tranferred? is there a clever bit of software that you can add on to IE (that's what I'm using)? or do other browsers have different and better options for this? Thanks for any suggestions.

Opera includes a download manager that resumes broken downloads, if the server support is there of course. One of many things they've done right.

The new version of Safari (1.2) purports to do this as well.

Thanks all but it was a server issue with that particular download. But tedster, what an amazing tool in Opera! I have gone a long way towards my conversion today!

so does netscape.

Mozilla, Opera and Netscape are almost the same thing; they've got the same features: mail client, download manager that can resume and a web browser.

and AFAIK Mozilla and Netscape are the same thing; they use Gecko. Not sure about Opera, does it use Gecko?

(sorry if this post was a little off-topic to the thread.)
