Hi,
I have finished the set upof ONE HTML page of my website with HTML 4.0.1 and a CSS styling sheet. They both validate and look OK in IE6.0 and Netscape 7.0
Does anybody know the procedure for viewing my page in previous versions (say IE5.0?). I have tried to download them but my PC tells me that I already have a newer version!
How do you guys do it?

Welcome to Webmaster World, reddevil.

Go to [browsers.evolt.org...] for earlier flavors of most browsers and see this WW thread [webmasterworld.com...] for how to install multiple versions of IE.

Thanks for your greetings Jim,
I searched on evolt for IE and came to a page with different files, like:-
16 bit
32 bit
bookmarkexporter
handheld
mac
solaris
word60internetassistant
hpux

Am I in the right section? And if so, how can I tell which version of IE I am downloading?

Thanks.

DrDoc wrote this excellent article which pretty much covers this question - How to: Install multiple versions of IE on your PC [webmasterworld.com] :)

Another way to install mutliple IEs is to partition your hard drive and install several operating systems. I have a partition with Win98 for IE4 and NS4, Win2000 partitions for IR5, 5.5. and 6, and a couple of Linux partitions with their browsers.

A big advantage is that once the partitions are set up and the OS's installed you can download browsers to your hearts content knowing that if anything goes wrong you are only going to screw up one partition. Just keep one partition for your main system and never download anything to it unless tested elswhere. My system has been running over a year without a problem.

Yup, thats the right bit. Click on the 32bit folder and you should see some sub-folders with version numbers you recognise.
