Page Definitions

When providing definitions for certain words on a page (with a popup window),
is it wise to hyperlink the particular word every instance?

What is te rule according to Jacob? Can't seem to find it on his site.

Not sure about the Nielson recommendation, but I tend to link the first instance of the word to be defined only.

Thats what I assumed, however my page is divided into paragraphs
and I began to think - a user may not read the page in sequence and
only read would paragraph he/she is interested in.
