In Internet Options > Advanced I have it set to "Do not search from the address bar".
So, when I type "exa" it shows me previous URLs, like [example.com......] I press the down key, after which the address bar now shows one of those darn overture searches. [example.com...] is still highlighted in the dropdown. To make the address bar actually show [example.com...] I have to press down again, and then up... :(

Anyone have an idea how I can get rid of this annoying thing?

I don't think I understand. Does an Overture result url popup in the address bar when you are highlighting a URL that is not an Overture URL?

Are you sure you don't have "adware" on your browser?

If I type "foo" it takes me to an Overture search for "foo". If I type "foo" and use the arrows to go down the list of previous address, the first result will point to the overture result page (if there is one). All other results are unaffected.

Nope, no adware on it...

This is IE 6, right? I have the same settings and I am not getting this.

Yep, IE6...

I don't use it for my normal browsing... But when I have to check a site in IE (or if I have to use one of those darn "works only in IE" sites) I usually have forgotten about the problem...

k, I'll run some more adware searches and see if there's anything. I don't have this problem on my home computer, just the work one. But I haven't installed anything that would have put adware on it...

Are you sure that you never went to these URLs? Does it happen after you clear your history?
