The importance of Validating

For all those who wonder if validating was worth it. I've jsut been asked for some help by a merchant as to why only their homepage ever got indexed by google.

It took me all of 10 seconds to see that there was no </head> closing head tag. Therefore the entire document was part of the header. The browsers rendered it just fine, but google saw nothing.

Yep. There are lots of site like that. Fix that error, then revalidate the page again, and validate every single page of the site.

Try a Google search for meta name="content" or something like that to see all the sites that have a </title> tag that is missing or is misformed like title> or </titl and hence their whole document appears to be in the title tag.
