These are actual quotes I got in a thread dealing with the release of mIRC 6.1. Though it quickly turned into a browser shouting match do to a comment that the new mIRC opened up whatever was set as the default browser instead of IE.

"It's a hell of a lot easier to get updates for IE than it is for Scape."

"Why should I bother downloading anything?"

"I can't be shagged using what is in essence a third party piece of software that MS probably coded Windows of any sort to crash with more often."

"Did the browser wars end like 10 years ago...?"

"Although using Netscape would mean Windows users who DON'T want to have to deal with MSN IM constantly buggering around the systray can just blow it off, one simple fact remains.....

You just can't have as much fun with the actual name of IE. I mean, there's good ol "Internet Exploiter", and "Internet Exploder" sure......

But on the other hand, you've got "Netscrape", "Netrape", "Nutscape", "Nutscope", and then of course their's always that goat thing that's been mentioned. I mean, how open to abuse did those guys want themselves to be?"

>> goat thing

? just curious ;)

I've heard a better one: "if the only thing on the page that's different is the little dragon in the top corner in stead of the little e then why should i use it?"

Italics by me, quote by girlfriend (little dragon: moz). Oh, and i dont think it's stupid, btw. It's the pages that are important not the browsers.

Just to let everyone know that a new version of mIRC has been released last month.

Now why would someone want to upgrade to the newest version you might ask? Well if you are like me and use something other then IE as a default browser, then you know all about mIRC's irritating habbit of loading IE every time you double-click on a URL instead of the default browser. That bug has now been fixed and there will be much joy in the land.

And just because some of you use the Goatscape doesn't mean that you can talk down IE.

Edit: Good news is that the thread has already yielded at least two converts. One of which made the "browser wars" comment earlier. <G>
