I probably downloaded one of those drive-by scumware BHO without noticing and now my internet explorer is acting up big time :( It takes forever to download pages and it's driving me CRAZY

I tried Ad aware and SpyBot removers but they don't seem to find anything strange.

Any advice? I'm desperate overhere :(

Have you all the M$ updates installed? I had trouble with IE lately but it was solved by installing the latest updates.

Tried clearing your cache? Do other browsers stall too?

I got the last update from M$ today and that didn't work, I also downloaded Mozilla and it's lightning fast (but I can't use the google toolbar)

I'll try cleaning my cache to see if that works.

That didn't work either :(

Is there anyway to uninstall IE so that I can re-install it later from scratch? Coulden't fin it in "add/remove programs" in the control panel.

As far as I know, you can't uninstall IE from your system. It is integraded into the OS.. If you have no internet explorer, then you have no Windows Explorer.

As far as your google toolbar, there is a version of one available for Mozilla at [googlebar.mozdev.org ]. It has most of the functionality but sadly lacks the PR.

The M$ support site [support.microsoft.com] has instructions on how to uninstall IE. Have never tried it myself though.
