There is now a experimental release of Mozilla Firebird where the two browsers are becoming one (Mozilla and Firebird) could this be the first step to browser warfare?

I've been using Firebird (and its previous incarnation 'Phoenix') since right around its 0.1 release (Mozilla since M4). Those two 'experimental' builds are for new features of Firebird, not for Firebird itself.

Firebird is just as stable as Mozilla, but far, far cooler.

IMNSHO IE already lost any future 'browser war' by default when it decided the next version comes with Longhorn. By that time, the cool stuff you can do with complete CSS2 and (forthcoming) CSS3 support will have webmasters drooling, and it'll all look the same whether from a Mozilla, Opera, or Apple browser.

I'm not following the Microsoft lost any future "browser war" because of Longhorn thing.
Is not Longhorn the working name for MS's next OS release?
Please explain.

IE will no longer be maintained/updated as a standalone product. The next update will be either in a new OS (Longhorn) or possibly a service pack.

I have heard rumor that there is no major work being done on a new version of IE.

Unfortunately, as long as M$ hold the OS market (and can uphold their claim OS and browser need each other), they will win every browser warfare. Has nothing to do with quality and/or improvements on the software but with people's mindset. Most web users are non-tech, non-geek people and won't even think on getting another browser if one is already installed.
