can't view source .. microsoft error

I figured I'd start a new thread on this since the previous one I found via google has been locked. It's not the temp internet files because I clear that often. At one point I just stopped being able to view source on IE6. I now use mozilla just to view source if I need to. Anyway, Dad and I created a new profile on my computer (I'm using win 2000) and it worked fine (the viewing source). But once we installed office again, bam the problem is back. My conclusion is it has something to do with other microsoft products, but I can't not have microsoft word, ya know? Any thoughts?

Check menu:
Tools -> Internet Options -> Programs (bookmark) -> HTML Editor.

Do you have "Notepad" or any other program specified there? If not, set it to Notepad and save settings.

Not sure if it will help...

Try emptying your recycle bin, worked for me.

It looks like there is more than one bug that can make "View Source" unavailable in Internet Explorer. Here's a recent thread with some more approaches:
