Hi there,
I'm considering adding a background music to my webpage. I want to embed a tiny Quicktime player so that people could turn it on and off if they like. (I do NOT want to embed Real because I think Quicktime's interface looks a lot nicer.)
I wonder if anyone could kindly paste me with the html code for embedding the Quicktime for background music. Very appreciate your help, many thanks!

Apple's Quicktime Reference [apple.com]

Note the instructions for sound-only at the bottom.

Hang on... doesn't the player which you can embed depend on what plug-in you have installed?

triple:

there is an alternative to using quicktime or mediaplayer: an applet! Depending on your client statistics' Java installations, you can play an mp3 on your server using a very simple applet; one time I used for example: tinyplayer [javazoom.net...] (free)

You may also want to look at using flash for this. You can make any interface you desire and the plugin is widely supported.

Hey! Triple H, if you want to do it and don't mind doing it with FLASH I have two files, one is a small script that you would insert on a web page, and another .js you call when the link is clicked, that one is too large to post. You would simple click on the link and it will play the corresponding flash file from a pre-load or from a database of .swf files

Hi all,
Thanks for everyone's help. I got the Quicktime working now:) But as I just found out that Flash's interface actually looked better. So yeah, sunchaser, I would really appreciate it if you would help me with the Flash. Take it easy guys!

For the sake of your visitors I would implore you to have it switched off by default. I can't stand it when sites play music...
