Mozilla.org switches focus to Phoenix

Mozilla 1.4 to be the last milestone

...mozilla.org today announced a new plan that would have future Mozilla development focussed around the soon-to-be-renamed stand-alone Phoenix browser and the Thunderbird mail and newsgroups client (also known as Minotaur). Mozilla 1.4 would be the last milestone release of the traditional Mozilla browser suite and the 1.4 milestone would replace 1.0 as the stable development path.

A very interesting article. I'm not sure if it's been covered already (I saw nothing on a sweep and search).

It looks like Phoenix is going to replace Mozilla, which mozilla.org claims is full of bloated code and that the "two-stage review process is overkill".

Phoenix isn't exactly devoid of bloat, there's just less of it, and no mail/news client.

Good news that they're making it more important though - I want a new milestone, Naples doesn't have half the features that the nightly builds do :/
