First let me say that switching to opera or netscape is not an option! I already have them for testing anyway. Call me crazy or even stupid, but I happen to like IE.

Version: IE 5.01 sp2 (I don't trust 5.5 or 6 yet)
Platform: Win98se
Problem: Java applets dead lock my computer
Description:
If I click on a link that opens a java applet (e.g a chat applet) in a new window, everything works fine until I go to close that window!
The window containing the applet closes just fine, but any windows that where open under it are now dead locked. I can't end the task or shut down without shutting the power off.

It only seems to happen when the applet is in a new window, I don't have this problem where applets are embeded in the same page.

Anyone have a clue on this?

That happens if the page closes before the applet itself closed.

Try upgrading the Java machine on your computer (or reinstalling it), or, reinstall IE.

I don't trust 5.5 or 6 yet

Well, you can drop 5.5 from that list then .. since ver 6 is the update for it ;)

Speaking of, and this is an interesting question, why do you feel more confident using IE5 than 5.5 or 6? I'd like to know, and I'm sure others would too, who strive to make their pages work in all browsers...
