Selling keywords for the browser bar?

Has anyone heard of this over-hyped garbage?

I ran across this site which makes some pretty ridiculous claims that the future of internet searches will be people typing a specific keyword into the address bar, and it takes them to a site which bought that keyword.

Of course, you have to download the junkware browser update so this program will work in your browser.

The pitch men for this scheme fail to mention that in order for this keyword purchase to be productive, millions upon millions upon millions of computer owners will have to download this browser update.

I don't see that happening.

I wish I could post the URL of where I saw this.

This is probably old news but I had to state my doubts about it ever taking off.

Most people here have taken the same dim view of that offering. Lots of discussion about this over in our Keywords forum.
