Just wondering how old Mozilla 2 is and if there's anything (CSS?) it doesn't handle properly.

I'm obviously missing something here, because Moz is only up to 1.3, according to mozilla.org

Could well be me that's missing something, but from my logs:

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90)
Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; Ask Jeeves/Teoma)

It´s just a useragent string ;).

It is meant to be Netscape 2 not Mozilla 2.

The Netscape people used to call Netscape for Mozilla, way back from the beginning. At the end of the README file it always said something like "Remember, it is spelled Netscape, but it is pronounced Mozilla!".

I think it is a pun on NCSA Mosaic, on which the founders of Netscape had worked before starting Netscape, and Godzilla, which also explains the Mozilla peoples preference for dinosaur-like monsters.

Netscape 1-4 always identified itself as Mozilla/1 - Mozilla/4.

The current Mozilla releases identify themselves as Mozilla/5, because they were originally based on the code for the never released Netscape Navigator 5.

This also explains why Netscape released a Netscape 6 and 7, but never a 5. It formed the basis for Mozilla, but was ditched early on.
