I've started implementing the new XHTML coding standard into my websites, but for some reason few programs, i.e. search engines and Brett's Spider sim, pick up my meta description tag.
Does the closed meta tag pose a problem?

The only search engine problem I had with xhtml for the last one and a half year was with my own xav site search. Didn't index the xhtml meta tags without surgery. Apart from that, the site is ranking top ten for dozens of search terms in AV, Lycos, Google.
