I just wondered if it possible to embed into a webpage my current messenger icon, and the status text
eg. Online, busy, offline, etc.

My gut feeling is that it is possible, but I don't know how!
Any help appreciated.

If you are referring to having your custom favicon display in a visitor's IE favorites (or Netscape's bookmarks), this thread should help:

[webmasterworld.com...]

<added>Oh, I now realize you are referring to MSN Messenger. Sorry, I've not heard of that being done.</added>

Yes, sorry I should have been a bit clearer. I wondered if it was possible to dynamically display my current MSN Messenger status within a webpage.

As far as I know, it's not possible. I know you can do that with various other messengers (Yahoo, ICQ) .. but I've never seen it done with MSN Messenger.

There is, however, a complex workaroud that would allow you to do it anyway ..

Write a CGI script that will fetch your profile page from MSN.com, parse it for the icon, and then display it on your page using SSI.
