hi first choose your Meta tags...i mean by which "word" You want you site to be listed in the Google.com...

i would suggest you to look all meta tags at google.com

for instance if you are developing a web site for ...sports..
then type sports in google search then see the Fist Ten's Meta Tag and choose your out of them...do't think by putting all the meta tags you will get hight ranking...
Ok now Got it?

AFAIK, the only META tag still useful is the DESCRIPTION.

not only just Description is enough ...you have to put more content on your site too...related to that Meta tag and descrition..to get higher ranking ok

NewUser,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]!

We are using the term "meta tag" to mean HTML tags in the form:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-US">
<meta http-equiv="imagetoolbar" content="no">
<meta name="robots" content="index,follow">
<meta name="Description" content="A premier manufacturer and supplier of fuzzy blue widgets">

rather than meaning "keywords" - which is what you seem to be describing.
