Making an IE toolbar

Has anyone had any experience with this?

Couldn't find this covered elsewhere, but apologies if it's duplication of an old topic.

I've been thinking about creating a Google-esque (for want of a better description) toolbar for IE which reflects the search on one of my sites and was curious whether anyone had experience of this previously - specifically, whether any suitable tools exist to aid in the process.

I've found a couple of tools which looked promising, but one came in at $200 (which for a non-profit site isn't really a starter) and the other simply didn't have the functionality required. (it was more suited to just displaying lists of links)

Any suggestions welcomed - I know IEAK allows you to do your own toolbar for deployment with a custom Internet Explorer install, but couldn't find reference to it being able to generate toolbars for install independently of IE.

Ritch.

I looked into this at one time, and came away with about the same impression you have. If an IE toolbar seems like a useful feature for a client, then the utility I need to do the job will cost at least $200. Depending on the features they want, it might be a lot more.

I guess if I were more of a code head, maybe it could be pulled off without the utility. But in the end, no one pushed for it, so I didn't get any hands-on experience.

Maybe some one else?

As I thought - looks like I'm destined to either save the pennies or put the idea on the back burner for the time being.

As the world's worst saver, the outcome's pretty predictable.

Cheers,
