Hi,

We have a website and are looking to randonmly flash up images for a split second.

One way i thoguht of doing this was putting the image in a layer and randomly turning the layer on and off. Is it possible to randomly turn layers on and off?

Is it also possible to centre a layer on the page without using frames. The website we are using is centred horizontally (i.e. not sitting at the left or right, but in the middle). To have effective flashing layers i would have to have te layer sitting over the web page all the time, no matter what browser dimension was veiwing it.

Anyone got any ideas?

webboy1,
There are a number of ways to achieve the effect you're looking for.

Re: random images - you'll need to use either a script language (PHP, Javascript, Cold Fusion) or Flash to accomplish this and yes it can apply to the layer.

Re: centered layer - [searchengineworld.com...] - that ought to get you going.

Webboy, do you have Fireworks?

If so you could make a simple animated GIF using two layers. One with the Subliminal message/image and the other a transparent layer. Then set the transparent layer to reveal for(eg)10 seconds and the other to (eg) 0.1 seconds. Export it and drop it into a layer. When the GIF is viewed within the browser the image will flash every 10 seconds.

Cant suggest a truly random method though.

Oh No!

Subliminal advertising on the web? Does it work? Are people doing it? Am I the last to know? Does this explain some of my eratic behavior as of late? Now how to explain my pre-web behavior?
