Hi We've been asked to design a site for a manufacturer of alcoholic drinks. The regulations mean we have to include a front page which asks for date of birth. I'm told that the box for this information is not accurately reproduced by Netscape therefore the designer wants to include a sniffer to detect the browser being used. But I am also told that search engines do not like sniffers and will not read sites with sniffers. Some enlightenment would be apprectiated.

What do you mean it is not accurately reproduced? I was actually at a beer site last night using Mozilla and it worked just fine.

I dont think they have a problem when its done for issues like that. I think the issue comes from when you do it to send the bot to a totally different site.
