does display depend on the platform, too?

I would like to know whether there shuold be a difference in view sites with IE 6.0 on win2K or winXP?
My site for some apparent reason, displays fine with all versions of IE, but when viewed on a Toshiba
laptop running XP, my site looks all distorted. Can it be the platform on which IE is running
that is making a difference?

Possibly a resolution issue? If you are using percentages to define your tables and backgrounds then this would affect it.

ps. you might want to remove the URL from the post, thats frowned appon here.

Another thing to check is the system's font size setting - not just the browser's (although that certainly matters.) Some laptops ship with the system set to large fonts.

In Win 9X this choice is set in Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced. Not sure about location in 2000 or XP, but it should be similar.

XP shouldn't distort things such as tables. Just like IE running on Windows or on MAC, operating elements such as inputs (whether they be textarea, text, select, button, radio, checkbox), scrollbars, and mouse pointers can be changed because of platform. However, the entire page shouldn't be distorted for any reason.

Can you put the URL in your profile? I have an XP box somewhere I can take a look at it on.
