Where are they? Do they post?

I'm sitting here running pages through the W3C Validator and thinking to myself, how come we never see anyone participating at the forums from the W3C?

Is it because they want us to read through the pages and pages, bookmarks upon bookmarks, links upon links, of W3C standards?

How about an open invitation to the W3C to join us while we promote the importance of web standards? It sure would be nice to see the username W3C show up in the membership! ;)

<edit> I just sent an invitation.

I've also wondered who these all-powerful people are, and why they have never shown up in this (or any other forum I've visited -- as far as I've seen anyway). It really would be nice if there was some sort of discourse between us and them.

I would be happy to see them here also. I think the primary forum for technical discussion of the W3C standards is the collection of lists that W3C itself maintains. The one on CSS for example is:

[lists.w3.org...]

These are not "how-to" lists, but discussions of principles and future directions. If you browse the whole collection of lists, though, you might be able to find some good material. (They badly need an editor for their collection of mailing lists -- some of them have been dead for over a year and are still listed. It's hard to tell which are the active ones and which aren't.)

We're not that important.

Excerpt from a response I received in regards to an invitation to the W3C in joining us to promote Web Standards...

> Related to Web standard advocating, I suggest you look at [w3.org...] and in particular at a new group we just started: [lists.w3.org...]

> As far as finding a rep to participate at Webmaster World, I'm ccing Karl Dubost, our W3C Conformance Manger, and a couple of colleagues involved in W3C advocating.

Good job, pageone. I hope they send someone over, and I'm glad to see they have an evangel-list now in operation.

I considered joining their P E group, but figured it was another call on my limited free time, so I prefer to digest what I read there and elsewere, and to diseminate it where needed.
