Here's a tip I picked up years ago and has saved countless hours poking around - set up a custom-made page with all your important links, programs, search forms, etc and then make this your browser's homepage. I've about 150 links with three forms and six programs all on this page - saves loads of time and it can be easily amended any time.:)

Back in the days when frequent hand-submission was a part of keeping a site in the SEs, I had a page like that with links to all the submit pages. It was a time saver, but I haven't thought about the method since. Thanks for the reminder.

I use this idea both at home and at work. I can list all the essential sites I use regularly, such as forums and Google. Saves digging through the Favorites for them!

You can also use it as a scratchpad, adding test links while you work on a page, or reminder links to check out later.

Has anyone tried using keywords in Opera or Mozilla? That is potentially even faster, you can just type one letter to go to the site!

I have such a page. I usually just have it as a local file on my own computer, but when I'm going to be travelling for a day or two I put it online in a not-linked-from-anywhere directory. It really streamlines the process of "checking things" when I'm away from home.

Very neat - never thought of that. :)

I've had one of these for years. I really need to update it, because my own links really aren't too current. I had it set up for the whole family on some space we had with our ISP, and my husband, in particular, has made a lot of use out of it. I also added a start page script and a bookmarks script to a password protected directory on some extra webspace that I have, because it gets harder and harder to keep track of stuff, seems like.
