IE disabled while on cable

One of my clients has a strange phenomenon which just started last week.

They have cable access and 2 dial up connections - a local AOL access number and another ISP.

When they are on cable, Explorer will not launch - they can click away and it's just dead. However, still on cable, they can launch AOL. And when AOL is up, then the (external to AOL) Explorer will launch.

On either dial-up, IE launches with no trouble.

?????? Anyone got a clue ??????

Tedster, have you checked the "connections" settings in IE's Internet Options app? I'm on DSL and had to change my settings to "never dial a connection" (and auto-detect).

I'm guessing AOL is making the direct network connection and after IE can piggy-back. Otherwise, IE is still looking for a dial-up.... just a thought.

We've been accusing the cable company of suppressing Microsoft, LOL! You might be able to guess which company we'd have those suspicions about.
