I'm currently building a "links" based website.
I need to create a "directory" in my site to store
all the category pages in. For example:
www.mysite.com/links/category1.htm
www.mysite.com/links/category2.htm
www.mysite.com/links/category3.htm etc.

How do I create this "links" directory to store my
category pages? Do I create it with Frontpage, then
upload it to my server or does the host create
this directory? Please explain this to me so I can
continue my site.
Thanks,
Clak

Hi, welcome to WebmasterWorld!

If you're using FP then create the directory and just upload it. Or if you are able to connect direct via ftp you can just type 'mkdir mydir' and it will create it.

Welcome to Webmaster World, clakshakle.

If I've understood you correctly, this sounds like a Site Map. I think that's a better terminology, since each "folder" is also known as a directory.

You can create this page just like you would any other page. That means you can include links to the categories you want, in the order you want.

Make sure to link to it liberally from your other pages

welcome to webmasterworld v3 clackshakle :)

to add to the above, if you have specific problems with frontpage you might want to ask [webmasterworld.com...] here in the WYSIWYG forum :)

I've made something more or less the same as what you describe and there are a few "unique" ways that frontpage can make a links directory/site map for you

clakshakle,

If your using Frontpage:

Open your web offline in FrontPage-> The directory/folder view will be in your left pane->right-click on your root/top folder and select new->folder. Add any pages etc that you want in this folder. When creating hyperlinks just brose to the folder/page. After you are all done upload via FrontPage to your server.
I hope this makes sense ;)
