Hi -
my friend tells me that my site <snip>please read your sticky mail</snip>
won't view in Netscape. It works fine in IE and AOL. I understand that different browsers have different requirements re html. Would anyone be so kind as to look at my site and give me some advice on how to make it work in Netscape too, or alternatively offer me some general guidelines on this?
Thanks,
Gary Ayres

Is it just me or does it try to download an executable file?

That's exactly what it does.

Send us the code for those frames man!

....and download Netscape and test, test, test!

Is liquidfxv3 the file you are talking about? :)

I think this is where the file download is trying to come from.

<TABLE BORDER=0 BACKGROUND="file:///C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\Gary's Files\Website\lfxtc059.gif" WIDTH=100% HEIGHT=100% ALIGN=RIGHT>

This is in the top frame.

<FRAMESET border=0
frameSpacing=0 rows=100%,* frameBorder=0><FRAME
src="liquidfxv3"></FRAMESET></HTML>

Yes, I think liquidfxv3 is indeed the offending file....I may have uploaded it unnecessarily. The above code is from my 'index' page. If I delete liquidfxv3, what should I do with the above code?
BTW Thanks all for your help :-)

Hmm... first off, I'm using IE6 (XP) and can't see anything.

It looks like the second frameset is trying to access "liquidfxv3", not quite sure why. This link should point to whatever page you want to display in your frameset.

<FRAME src="liquidfxv3">

you might want to make sure that this file has the proper path and put an extension on it and see what happens.

As you already see, there is no shortage of members willing to discuss a problem.

Once again, Welcome to WebmasterWorld! Glad to have you aboard.

Thanks for all your advice. I've changed the file in question to a .html file, and adjusted the link as suggested. I'm downloading netscape now to test it, but as I seem to be having some download problems it would be nice if you could have a quick look in netscape and in IE6(XP) meanwhile to see if that's done the trick. Brilliant response, guys!

it seems to be ok now, a bit slow and heavy though and seems to play sounds.

btw
welcome to WmW

<added>the sounds are interrupting my Ben Harper

Yes! I'm afraid the sounds are my little indulgence! You're not the first to raise an eyebrow! Maybe when I get more sophisticated about this web design lark the novelty will have worn off and I'll get rid of them.....I guess the 'slow and heavy' is because I scanned my sister-in-law's floor tiles as page backgrounds....
Cheers
BTW Thanks for the welcome and the advice, all.
