I typically use firefox as my browser, but naturally I require IE in order to make sure my designs run well there. I have IE set to open to the home page of one of my sites. Every now and them, it will switch to Google as the homepage. Usually it is the Google Toolbar download page that appears, but with my site's URL in the address bar. I do have the toolbar installed on IE. Today, Google English appeared with my site's url in the address bar. I can search and the ensuing Google search page will have the url -http: //www.example.com/search?q=.....
When I hover over the cache links on the results pages, my IP address shows up in the display bar (the one of my computer, not the site).

And then it goes back to normal.

Any ideas what causes this?

This is a new one on me -- my best guess is that you may need to delete your cached files from IE. When IE gets very full, it can get all tangled up.

Tools > Internet Options > Temporary Internet Files (section 2) > Delete Files
